Installing Windows XP on a Mac using BootCamp under Leopard

Here is the fix for the hal.dll error when you try to install Windows XP with OSX Boot Camp on an Intel Mac.

• use boot camp to partition the drive
• reboot the computer with the windows xp cd
• when the windows xp cd is loading you want to press the r at the first setup screen (recovery console)
• go in to the recovery console.
• at the promt you need to type:

format C: /Q /FS: NTFS

After it is done formating the drive type exit to reboot the computer.

Go in to the Windows XP cd

When the drive screen comes hit the up down arow until you get to drive c

hit enter or return key. Do not reformat the drive.

install your windows xp.
